17/18u Girls Beach Volleyball | Summer 2025

We have two great options for 17u volleyball this summer and an elite beach program for our 18u athletes! Take a look at the details below for more information about our beach volleyball programs. Beach volleyball is more difficult than indoor volleyball, and it is only suitable for players who have mastered the basic skills.

Schedule

The schedule is listed in the chart above. Exceptions to the schedule will be made for the following reasons:

Holidays. All programs are cancelled on Holidays.
Weather. We will cancel training in the following situations.
- Nearby lightning. In this scenario, teams will move to a safe space and parents will be contacted for pickup. Both beach locations have an undercover school facility right near the courts.
- Severe rain. We generally play rain or shine, however, there have been a couple cases where the rain is so heavy that we need to cancel. This rarely happens.
- Extreme heat. High temperatures are part of beach volleyball! When the temperatures get high enough that they could pose a safety risk, we will either switch to grass volleyball or cancel completely. This rarely happens.

VBC Tournaments

Volleyball BC runs beach tournaments each year. These tournaments culminate in the BC Provincial Championships and Canadian National Championships. We highly recommend that our Elite and HP athletes attend VBC tournaments. These tournaments are not included in Velocity training fees.

These VBC tournaments are not Velocity VC events, although Velocity will send coaches to support our athletes at these tournaments. Click the link below for the tournaments that our coaches will be attending.

Note: These tournaments are separate from Velocity beach training. Teams can choose which tournaments they'd like to register for, and they will need to register online with VBC. Each team is composed of two players, so each player will need to select a 'partner' for each tournament. They do not have to play with the same partner for the full season.

For 17/18u Athletes, we only offer an Elite program, so players will be receiving the Elite gear package.

REGISTER HERE

There are three options for registration. Returning players are eligible to join without a tryout. New players can either pay the tryout fee only, and the other is to pay the tryout fee and a deposit. We highly recommend paying both the deposit and the tryout fee, because that will guarantee your daughter a spot in one of the programs.

RETURNING PLAYERS: If you played beach for VVC last year, you can send us an email and let us know which group you'd like to join this year. You can avoid the tryout, tryout fee, and receive your gear earlier!

TRYOUT FEE ONLY: Signing up for tryouts gives your daughter the chance to be evaluated and placed in a program. However, when a spot is offered, it is on a first-come, first-serve basis and the spot is not guaranteed. This is a good option for athletes who would only accept a spot if they made it into a certain program. For most players, we recommend paying the deposit as well to reserve a spot in one of the programs. Register for tryouts here.

TRYOUT FEE + DEPOSIT: If you choose to pay the tryout fee and the deposit, then your daughter still has to attend a placement tryout, but she is guaranteed a spot in one of the programs. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this option. Each season, we have athletes miss out on a spot because they only registered for tryouts, and didn't accept their offer in time. However, if you are unsure about registering for beach volleyball, please select the tryout fee only option - the deposit is non-refundable and is for players who are sure they want to participate.
